Members of the Copiague Middle School Student Council, National Junior Honor Society, and Builder’s Club attended the Kids in Action Conference on Friday, December 2, at Farmingdale State College. The theme of this year’s conference was “Anti-Bullying,” and more than 2,500 students from over 40 districts were represented.
Prior to the December 2nd conference, a writing contest was held in which students were asked to give their opinion on the subject of bullying and how they thought it could be ended. Student Council President Karla Lopez was awarded second place in the writing competition. She received a medal and certificate of achievement, which was presented to her by Senator Owen Johnson.
“Our students did such an amazing job representing Copiague,” remarked school counselor Francesca Spinelli.
