Third-grade classes at Great Neck Road Elementary School in Copiague were visited by Ashley Miller from TD Bank in West Babylon. Ms. Miller brought the TD WOW Zone presentation to the children to help them learn how they can begin saving for college. As an example, each student received a lollipop and was given the opportunity of eating his or her lollipop (spending money) or saving it until the end of the presentation and earning another lollipop (interest).
Additionally, the students learned how to open an account at a bank, filled out deposit slips, and learned some important words. The program ended with the students all receiving a goody bag that included a certificate worth $10 should they choose to start saving with their own bank account.
