Second-grade students in Katianne Brosnan and Danielle Sulyma’s class at Copiague’s Deauville Gardens Elementary School created original stories, based on small moments in their lives. Utilizing District technology and the Story Book Program, the students recorded their voices as they read their stories. They also drew photos to accompany their stories and put together slideshow presentations featuring their recorded voices and pictures. To culminate the writing unit, the class hosted a Fancy Authors Celebration, where students dressed in their best clothing, received certificates of completion, and enjoyed viewing each slideshow.
