To commemorate Veterans Day, as well as honor those who have risked their lives defending America’s freedoms, the students and staff at Great Neck Road Elementary School in the Copiague School District hosted their annual Veterans Day Breakfast Celebration. Invited to attend the celebration were members of the local V.F.W. and relatives of students who have served or are currently serving in the Armed Forces. Also in attendance were Board of Education President Michael Greb and trustee Everett E. Newman, III, New York State Assemblyman Robert K. Sweeney, Superintendent of Schools Charles A. Leunig, and Executive Director of Human Resources Todd J. Andrews.
During the program, attendees were treated to rousing performances by the school band and choir, a patriotic sing-along by the kindergarteners, a special video presentation organized by library media specialist Amy Csorny, and a delicious breakfast. “Today, the staff and students of the Great Neck Road Elementary School are proud to honor the members of the United States Armed Forces,” said Principal Joseph Agosta. “This morning, I invite you to enjoy the performances by our students, and most importantly, to enjoy your time in our school, knowing that we truly appreciate all you have done to make the United States of America the greatest country in the world.”
