Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School held its annual Varsity Winter Sports Awards Dinner honoring the best and brightest of the Winter 2011-2012 season. Sponsored by the Booster Club, members of the varsity girls and boys bowling, wrestling, boys and girls winter track, cheerleading, step team, and boys and girls basketball teams were honored by administrators and coaches.
During the ceremony, the Golden Eagle Award was also presented to the student athlete on each team with the highest average for the quarter. The Winter Sports Golden Eagle Award winners were: Gregory Lane (boys basketball), Caitlin Zowak (girls basketball), Avery Hodges (boys bowling), Julianna Muscietta (girls bowling), Zyare Brown (cheerleading), Gabrielle Davis (step team), Zack Wilson (boys winter track), Nicolette Vasseur (girls winter track), and Robert Gioia (wrestling).
