Continuing a yearly tradition, members of the Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School Key Club, along with their advisors JoAnn Erwin and Jennifer Phillips hosted a breakfast for members of the Kiwanis Club of Copiague. During the breakfast, members of the Kiwanis club held their monthly meeting and were updated on the activities held by the Key club throughout the year.
Following a performance of scenes from the high school musical Phantom of the Opera, Kiwanis Club President Carol Lynch presented five $500 scholarships to graduating seniors Daniel Handy, Vanessa Lindo, Shanice McKenzie, Jordan Taveras, and Naleika Thomas. She also presented two $1,000 scholarships to Alex Attanasio and Nicole Mangels.
The Key Club is an international organization whose primary mission is to help others. The members, along with their advisors, work hard to organize fundraisers to promote social and economic equality, encourage students to participate in volunteerism, and coordinate efforts with the Kiwanis Club of Copiague to provide for those in need.
