X Games Stars Teach Copiague Students How to Maintain Healthy Lifestyles Copiague students received an action-packed lesson about the dangers of smoking when several X Games stars visited Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School. Brought to the school by ASA Entertainment, the ASA High School Tour featured extreme sport bicyclists and entertainers performing tricks and speaking passionately to the teens about the importance of refraining from tobacco use in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. This special event was conducted as part of the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids. Students had the opportunity to interact with pros such as Mike Payne (Las Vegas, NV), Trevor Meyer (St. Park, MN), Matt Lindenmuth (Kutztown, PA), John Parker (Paso Robles, CA), and Jimmy Walker (Chicago, IL) while getting autographs and pictures and talking to the stars about how they remain tobacco-free. The tour, which is sponsored by the United States Marine Corps, also featured fitness tests for the students following the performance. “We brought the tour to the high school to capture the attention of our students and teach them an important lesson,” remarked High School Principal Jeanette Altruda.
