Showcasing their reading comprehension, listening and acting skills, first-graders in Erica Letts’ and Lauren Lupinacci’s classes at Copiague’s Deauville Gardens West Elementary School performed Readers Theater presentations of “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” and “The Three Little Pigs” for one another. Readers Theater productions are dramatic presentations of books through scripted form that help students focus on fluency development, motivate reluctant readers and strengthen comprehension. To prepare for their performances, the students worked for three weeks and created character hats to wear during their scenes.
