Members of the Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School Madrigal Choir represented Copiague Schools at the annual Fiesta-Val Competition in Virginia. The students, under the direction of Larry Wurtzel with accompanist Gina Occhiogrosso, took first place with a Superior rating. Additionally, Jamal Grey was recognized with an Outstanding Soloist award. The group fundraised throughout the year for this event and also visited the U.S.S. Wisconsin, Busch Gardens, and the Holocaust Museum, and participated in a walking tour of the monuments in Washington, D.C.
