Students at the Deauville Gardens Elementary School in the Copiague School District participated in a variety of activities at the school’s field day. The day’s events were both individual and team related. The individual events included hurdles, ball and marker, egg and spoon, and bean bag races. Students then participated in relays such as the over-under relay, sack races, toss the chicken, jump rope, and noodle horse races. As a part of the school’s initiative to encourage students to go to college, each team represented a different college or university.
Having the students compete in both individual and team related activities encouraged the children to realize both their own athletic potential, and their teamwork skills as well. “This is a great day that the students look forward to every year,” said Peter Cesare, the District’s director of athletics and physical education.
