Susan E. Wiley Elementary School in Copiague hosted its kindergarten through fifth-grade Poetry Night. During the event, winners of the school’s poetry contest read their poems to all in attendance, and each received a certificate of appreciation.
Following the poetry readings, stations were arranged for students and their families to create their own original poems. These included the creation of shape poems, haikus, acrostic poems, and story poems. The night was arranged by the Poetry Committee, which includes Assistant Principal Cynthia Florio, and teachers Chris Uccellini, Maryanne Basso, and Melanie Diamond.
