The end of the school year each June signifies the closing of the door on another year, but it also marks a series of beginnings. This year, new beginnings are at hand for the 12 retiring staff members and 13 educators who received tenure during a special reception held prior to the Copiague School District Board of Education meeting of June 4. “Tonight, we are fortunate to celebrate two special occasions in one’s educational career: the retirement of many of our dedicated staff and the granting of tenure of some of our brightest young educators,” remarked Superintendent of Schools Charles A. Leunig to begin the program.
