As a way of celebrating the end of the year, having a little educational fun and practicing their literary skills, the first-grade students at Copiague’s Susan E. Wiley Elementary School participated in a Lit Luau, organized by their teachers. To begin the event, the first-graders received Hawaiian leis to wear around their necks before traveling to each class to participate in various activities.
The luau had students use their imagination to decorate sun visors, practice their writing, listening and comprehension skills through a game of Bingo, and cool down with a movie – Disney’s Hawaii-based cartoon “Lilo and Stich” – and Italian ices.
