On Wednesday, May 30, the Copiague Middle School’s Eagle Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) inducted 47 new members. In front of members of the Board of Education, administration, and family and friends, the seventh and eighth graders participated in a candlelighting ceremony where they celebrated the four pillars of the NJHS – service, character, scholarship, and leadership. During the ceremony, the new inductees heard congratulations from Assistant Superintendent Dr. Kathleen Bannon, Principal Andrew Lagnado, advisors Paul Harvey and Francesca Spinelli, and the student-chosen guest speaker, science teacher Jennifer Palazzo. Additionally, the NJHS executive board of Marcus Weeks (President), Steven Szabo (Vice President), McKenize Boyle (Secretary), and Skylah McBean (Treasurer) spoke to the audience about the pillars and what they mean to NJHS current and future members.
