Dressed as Pilgrims and Native Americans, kindergarten and first-grade students at Copiague’s Deauville Gardens East Elementary School celebrated Thanksgiving early with a joint feast. To prepare for the feast, the students read books on the first Thanksgiving, compared and contrasted how Thanksgiving is currently celebrated to how it was originally celebrated, and completed an assignment showcasing what they are thankful for this year. As an added craft for the kindergartners, the students made their own placemats on which they enjoyed their feast.
Additionally, the kindergartners at Deauville Gardens West Elementary School participated in their own Thanksgiving feast. The students also dressed as Native Americans and Pilgrims and enjoyed snacks on their own Thanksgiving-themed placemats.
