The first-grade classes at Copiague’s Deauville Gardens East Elementary School welcomed a few new friends to their classrooms during the week of May 13. The newest members of the classrooms were a group of baby chicks that had been hatched in classroom incubators. In addition to their science curriculum, where they studied the life cycle of chicks, the students also participated in math lessons to calculate incubation time and temperature, as well as English language arts lessons to write about the entire process.
