On Tuesday, Oct. 9, the Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School girls varsity soccer team hosted the first Brittney Walsh Memorial soccer game against Amityville High School. Brittney was a former member of the soccer team and a Class of 2012 graduate who passed away shortly after graduation. During the game, a concession stand was set up to sell food and drinks, as well as special memorial t-shirts that featured Brittney’s soccer number and senior quote, with all of the proceeds going to support the Brittney Walsh Memorial Fund. “The fund, ultimately, aims to honor two senior athletes a year with a college scholarship,” said coach Nick Lorenzen.
