On Thursday, Oct. 11, members of the Copiague Fire Department visited the Deauville Gardens West Elementary School to teach the students about the importance of fire safety and prevention. During the interactive assembly program, students were afforded the opportunity to ask the firefighters questions about safety and about the gear they wear during a fire. In addition to the schoolwide program, the kindergarten students took a field trip to the Copiague Fire House, where they received a guided tour. The visits were in recognition of October as National Fire Prevention Month.
