This fall, the fourth- and fifth-grade students in Kas Cerrone’s class at Copiague’s Susan E. Wiley Elementary School participated in a myriad of writing activities designed around the theme of autumn. Using story cards to inspire creative ideas, the students wrote about what they were thankful for this past Thanksgiving and described the activities they had participated in throughout the fall, including picking pumpkins and raking leaves. All of the writing has been saved in the students’ writing binders so that they can share it with their families at the end of the year and see the progress they made as writers throughout the school year.
