It was a night of celebration to culminate years of hard work as Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School held its annual Senior Awards Night. The Class of 2013 gathered in the auditorium, where members of the Board of Education, district and high school administration, parents, family and community members enjoyed an evening of well-deserved awards and scholarships. “On behalf of the Board of Education, we are honored to be in attendance at tonight’s ceremony,” said Superintendent of Schools Charles A. Leunig. “I’d like to congratulate everyone here tonight, because it really has taken everyone – a village, if you will – to help these students achieve the successes that have made this evening possible.”
High School Principal Jeanette Altruda played master of ceremonies throughout the evening, during which scholarship monies were presented by community members to select students and academic and athletic awards were given for high achievements.
