The Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School PROUD Girls continued their mission of participating in charitable causes for their community. The students, along with advisor Alline Torrey, Assistant Principal Linda Caputo, and teacher Joe Mannix, visited Tanner Park Beach to clear debris and clean up the shore. Torrey stated, “Working with wonderful kids like this is why I went into education. These young ladies are the type of people who will help to make a better future for our community.”
This year the group was involved in many charitable events, including a gift drive for a local homeless shelter at Christmastime and a fundraising walk to support asthma research, as well as other important projects around the community.
